I had better get my skates on. I hear we are having company on April 4th which is Easter and our 62nd wedding anniversary. (I thought it was 63 years, but after labored math, we came up with 62nd.) I was not sure what day it was when I heard the news, so I had to calculate the logistics like indoors or outdoors, will the outdoors be ready...the pool is being drained and a new liner put in, all the outdoor furniture needs power washed and placed not to mention the cooking and organizing, but it is worth it. I've done it many times and I will not be shy asking for help.
One thing I really want is one of those Victorian jam cakes that was brought to the wedding shower for Alyssa. It was the most glorious cake I have ever seen and that includes wedding cakes. Real old-fashioned roses covered the top of the cake and jam and whipped cream layered the inside. It was wonderful. I think it is called a Victorian sponge. I understand the maker of this wonder has a single oven in her regular kitchen and she turns out these masterpieces seemingly effortlessly, or so I am told. I have not met this person and will have to rely on Beth to track her down.
Our planted flowers are looking a bit sad this morning but this always happens to us, we buy and plant too early. Yesterday a single honey bee ravaged our pansies near our kitchen door. He got a fill because he was alone while plundering the blossoms.
I'm off to make soups. Talk to you later as the day progresses.
