Rules for One Hundred Guests

Leave your cudgels in the car.  That's a rule.  May 28th will be special to us in so many ways.  Brooks, Connor, and Daniel will graduate with thoughts of college tucked in mind.  Andrew Isfort will be home from that hell hole in Afghanistan, hopefully not having to ever go back there, and family and friends from all over the world will gather here to celebrate. It took me two days to get over Easter, so I don't know what the result of one hundred guests at an all day open house will be, but happiness will be one of them. It is so exciting to graduate from anything and high school is especially exciting.  The world is open and what is around the corner is a thrilling mystery.
I've hired the Smiths again to help. It seems I can't do a big party any more without their help. Smith's Deli on High Street in Columbus has been a favorite of mine.  It is not fancy in any way, but their food is good and their help at a party is extraordinary.  I do the food, but they work the crowd and the kitchen during the event. We've decided to do macho food since it's an all male celebration.  I will have one guy set up a grill surrounded by tables with servings of sliders.  These mini filets from Andersons in Columbus are wonderful.  They take seconds on the grill but having lasting memories on the tongue. Little rounds of the most tender beef with a circle of cracked pepper around each rim resting on a miniature bun--that's all one needs, but there will be platters of trims and enhancements to further the flavor. We will also have brats, sausages, hot dogs, and buttered buns from the grill area.  There will also be
mexican quesadillas. He will man that operation too, as well as the panini sandwiches machine. That Mr. Smith will be a very busy man. So a grill and two machines to master.

Drinks are always set up on the cool side porch where adults can keep an eye out for anyone who should not be sampling the booze, while the chests of iced legals will be on the office porch, near the pool.

That's as far as I have gotten with 'the plan'. But I will add to this as the lay out progresses.  Beth is doing the invitations and decorations and the wine has been bought and stored for later consumption.  We are on our way to a good time.

Yesterday our computers were down, so I cooked.  I made this dish which will be good for the party--peppers and ears (pasta).

To the doctor

We are off to the doctor to have Andy checked out since he has had two falls.  We thought to wait until his appointment on the 20th, but aft...
