What a Day!
While Jimmy Lechler has the better pictures, which I cannot seem to get on Facebook or here, I will share some that I took on the day May 29, 2011. After a week of solid rain, the sun shone on Cooke Road once more during a special occasion; Matt and Nate's graduation party. It was difficult to count the number of guests because of the coming and going, but it went on from 1:00 in the afternoon to 1:30 in the morning. (I'd say around 75 people) Several late night hungry celebrants arrived after working all day. They were all welcome. Nate's mother had made a fabulous (loop) video (with music) of his life starting with a sonogram to his high school graduation. It was nostalgic, funny, sad, and precious at the same time. She had also done a complete picture album of their lives for both boys, now men. Family came from Cincinnati and Florida and I cooked for weeks. Matt and his friend Jake worked on the outside for weeks as well and the place had never looked better. We had three servers to help so I could enjoy the entire day. I'd had the Smiths before and they were simply outstanding helpers staying over eight hours working tirelessly. The day was nearly a record breaker at 90 degrees or so with a lovely breeze kissing the swimmers and tennis players.
Sally Lechler brought a chocolate trifle which was much appreciated and consumed very quickly and, as I wrote, Jimmy took the best pictures--67 of them if I only had enough computer sense to get the best ones on here.
Thanks to all who attended. Thanks for the many gift envelopes given to the guys, and thank you for being family and friends.
