Watch out, if you are not careful you will end up in the hot soup.  I never use a soup recipe and I can't figure out why any one would.  You start off with what you like and that which takes the longest and begin layering, simmering, and tasting. You check the frig and judge what needs using and if it remotely goes with what ever is in the pot at the moment, you add it in, simmer and taste, simmer and taste. Yesterday I had a big stock pot of chuck and vegetables, stalks and ends of this and that and left it alone all day.  The sauce looked luscious as I set it aside to cool while I watched my shows...  meaning to come down later and store it on the porch until I could work on separations and tossings. Every scrap of chuck roast, carrots and potatoes were missing.  Only stalks, onions, and tasty sauce was left. (I have elves.  Some people have mice.) So separating the good from the useless was easy and now I am left with a wonderful beginning for a stew of substance. Thanksgiving day has two large meals.  One around noon which features at least six soups with crusty bread along with starters and dessert.  Nearly everything can be done way ahead so I can have some fun too. Besides I have more elves coming in on Wednesday to spend the night and document the proceedings...that would be Jim.  George is the turkey(s) wrestler and Pam is the jack of all trades along with Beth, my darling. Everyone seems to be really in on this holiday and I know it will be special.

We just bought a 20 pound turkey for $10. if you can believe that.  So now we have two.  Everyone will leave with left-overs. I still have no one to make the @#$%$### green bean casserole, but I am sure it will turn up. I simply refuse to do that ever again. If it appears, fine.  If it does not, good!
