Autumn menu

I can't rely on a favorite cooking season.  I am fickle.  Once I see an ingredient or two, I don't care what is happening outside, I am going to get at it  and make something that I hope will be scrumptious. Today I spotted ham bone and mixed dried beans and so the old white crock pot came down from the shelf and I filled it with goodness which will be ready for the soaked beans later today.

Joe and Glenda are coming up for a few days for the OSU game and do they like bean soup?  You betcha.
But, I must admit they are easy to please.  They always bring some of my favorite products from Cincinnati and I look forward to card games, a few drinks now and then, and comfortable company.

Every Christmas Eve the family gets all dressed up and goes out to enjoy a Christmas feast that I, for one, do not have to cook.  We select a restaurant several months in advance to make reservations because not every restaurant is open on that special evening.  This year we are going to Texas de Brazil which we just discovered.  A few family members knew about it and suggested it for the birthday September spot and boy were we impressed. This week they have started taking Christmas Eve reservations and Beth is making the date.  We usually have a party of ten or so and this year we are certainly just guessing.  Nate is making his winter travel arrangements which include the Gallegos Islands and Peru. With a lengthy stop in Hawaii again. Mike is heading to see Adam and to ski for several days.  Plans change, so we are just guessing.

Check back again.  I keep adding through the day.  It's a beautiful day and I hope you are all enjoying it.

To the doctor

We are off to the doctor to have Andy checked out since he has had two falls.  We thought to wait until his appointment on the 20th, but aft...
