She Had Aphids on Her Hibiscus

We are back from more than two weeks in Sanibel, an island on the gulf of Florida which is so serene, warm, and lovely that the worst thing to happen is a neighbor in a condo in our section lamented that she had aphids on her hibiscus. We left her with that unnerving malady and 80 degrees to return to 28 degrees and an ice covered driveway where we left Joe and Glenda to skate around while unloading their booty from the trip.

Our dogs were out of their minds when we appeared at 1:00 in the morning after Andy and Mike drove the entire way in one day.  It is so good to be home even though the trip was restful and rejuvenating. Luckily Mike, our son, got to spend nearly the entire time with us and then helped with the driving.  We saw David on our way to Sanibel and then stopped for breakfast with he and his family on the way home. We are home to stay for a long time now.  Matt, Nate and Beth had the place looking great and a bouquet of flowers to greet our home coming.  It was so thoughtful of Beth. We are blessed.

I forgot to add something about Sanibel--well, I didn't add nearly everything actually, but the one thing interesting on a very small island was the general store and hardware combinations.  Bailey's is a place everyone goes to if they are on the island.  It is a big friendly hardware and everything- one -needs store.  Expensive, but if you are captive on an island and don't want to pay $6. every time you cross the bridge to get back in, then Bailey's it is.  I bought sand shoes in lime green which became the beacon for the shell walkers to find their way home--oh, there is the woman with the green shoes, we have only a little ways to go now. Also the shoes attracted information seekers--do you know where the public entrance to the beach is;  I've lost my car? Every day, but one windy day, we spent on the beach during the morning.  In the afternoon some napped, some worked puzzles, some walked (not me) we all played cards, some biked (not me) and cocktails started very early in the day ...another vacation perk that does not happen at home. We were so rested we had to rest to rest.  It was good fun.

To the doctor

We are off to the doctor to have Andy checked out since he has had two falls.  We thought to wait until his appointment on the 20th, but aft...
